Lunch

Today I ate lunch at La Costa in Burien, delicioso!! I had fajita quesadillas with steak and camarones aquachile. Camarones are shrimp (in Spanish) and I first had this dish at Marsicos Mazatlan in Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico, which by the way is a pretty good restaurant. Here is a description:

Aguachile -- an ancient dish that originated in Sinaloa -- contains onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, serrano chiles, and cilantro bobbing around in the briny shrimp stock with a dozen peeled shrimp.

It is basically like a shrimp cocktail-ceviche, but be careful, the chile sauce can be muy picoso (very spicy)!!!

Cool New Purchase

This is a cool way to store your knives without using counter space! It fits nicely in a drawer and mine holds up to 6 big knives and 6 steak knives. I got one of these at Target last night, but it can also be found at Crate & Barrel.

New Exercise Regimen Starts Today

Today I am starting my new workout regimen. I found a great trainer at Simply Fit in Burien. He gave me a general workout to follow until we start training together next week. Wish me luck!

Cutie Pie Cairn Terrier from "A Place for Pets"

Merry Christmas!!

Today is Snowed in Seattle, beautiful!!! White Christmas here in the Northwest!

So, Mom just visited for the holiday weekend from Saturday to today. She just flew home on Horizon to Eugene. On Saturday we went to lunch at Mick Kelly's Irish pub and had great food. Then we went to Kevin and Sean's A Place for Pets, Pet Store in Burien. There was a darling Cairn terrier there that we snuggled with and gave some love, she was only 3.3 pounds.

Then we went to the Burien Yarn Stash. We sat and knitted for a while with Beth and Bonnie, the shop owners who are also mother-daughter. I got some stretchy yarn for making socks named fixation-- it is from Cascade Yarns. I also got 2, size 2 , 24" Addi Skacel needles to make my socks. Mom usually uses 16" needles, but these are just fine by me. We then went to visit Danny and Kathy Stevenson, my dog watchers. They had a cute pug there named Gigi who a had tongue too long for her mouth!! On Sunday, we mostly hung around the house, but went to Goodwill and to the Guadalupe Market for enchilada makings. We found some good sweaters at Goodwill!

On Monday, my friend Paula came by and brought me the cutest ornament with my name on it :-) We also watched so many movies this weekend:

Last night, I finished the first book in the Debbie Macomber knitting series, The Shop on Blossom Street. It was so good! I am really looking good to reading the next in the series, The Good Yarn. They are really heartwarming.

We also ate really yummy food-- Spaghetti, Chicken Fajitas, Enchiladas, yummy!!

Lucky and Lola also got yummy cookies for Christmas!

Lola- My Little Baby Girl

Brief History of the Westie
How the Westie came to be selectively bred for his white coat is an interesting legend. The short-legged terriers of Scotland are now recognized as the Scottish, Skye, Cairn, Dandie Dinmont, and West Highland White Terriers. All undoubtedly descend from the same roots. All of these dogs were valued as intrepid hunters of small game. Originally, their coat colors ranged from black to red to cream or white. Colonel Edward Donald Malcolm, of Poltalloch, Argyllshire, Scotland, is generally credited with breeding the white dogs true, although he took none of the credit unto himself. He had kept a pack of light colored working terriers for hunting. As the legend goes, a reddish dog of his, emerging from cover, was mistakenly shot for a fox. Malcolm is said to have decided on the spot to breed only for white dogs that could be readily identified in the field.

The breed was listed officially as the West Highland White Terrier in 1907 at the Crufts dog show in England. The name was chosen for the rugged character of the dogs and the area of their development.

Lola's birthday is May 12, 2006. She is just a baby! Lola has that "joie de vivre" that just makes you want to smile!

Lucky- My best buddy dog!

The Mauzer is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Miniature Schnauzer and the Maltese. However, Lucky is one of the smartest dogs I know. He picks up on tricks right away and seems to "know" what I am asking of him. Lucky's birthday is May 5, 1996. That's right he is almost 12 years old! You wouldn't know it too see him prance around the house though. Doesn't he have the cutest smile??

Pugs I met in Seattle today

These pugs were named Bravo and Regent. I walked down to Nordstrom at lunch and couldn't resist snapping a pic of these guys for my Mom (who has 3 pugs).
